Paper storage

Paper storage

Let’s explore some paper storage options for those large scrapbook papers. No one system will suit everyone, so I suggest taking a look at your scrapbook style before investing in expensive paper storage.

Professional Style shelving

This is usually the most expensive option for paper storage; however, many people have gotten some good deals at scrapbooking stores that are closing or downsizing and selling their storage.

Cube Style

This is a cheap method of storage I was able to find that was still convenient in terms of seeing the paper and accessing it easily. This is the actual picture of my storage cubes, which where purchased at Costco for less than 20$ and put together using their attachments and zip ties. The cubes can be found at a large variety of stores like Walmart, Zellers and Target. I suggest placing cardboard over top of the shelves so the paper does not get stuck and bend as you take the whole stack in and out.

Mobile File Cart

Just zoom it around the room as you desire! Great for a scrapper with limited space, or for those with a large room when they want to move it around. The one pictured is found at staples here.

Vertical Storage with Cropper Hopper

Store your papers vertically with Cropper Hopper. These make it easy to sort by manufacturer, color, or type of paper, by labelling the front--efficient scrap booking!

Cereal Boxes

The cheapest storage method is free of course. Save your cereal boxes, cut them across the top and you’ll have great storage for your 8x11” papers or magazines! Unfortunately I have not found any big enough for 8x12 papers, but I have heard pizza boxes work well, and many pizza places may give them out if you ask (before any pizza is put into them, of course!)

Here is a great link at Craft critique where they decorated a cereal box for magazines.

Crates

Crates are usually fairly inexpensive and are a good size for scrapbook papers. This is a good alternative if you like the vertical look, but don’t want to pay extra for a more expensive system. The one pictured an be found here at Staples.

Clothes rack

I found this neat idea on Craft Gossip Scrapbooking. I think that you would need a sturdy rod due to the weight, so this is probably best for people with a closet in their room. This can also be utilized for other storage as well. You would need to find a good size of course--the article indicates IKEA seems to have one that would work well.

Let’s e

Pet pages talk- pet album

Pet pages talk- pet album

Charlie’s pet talk album #3

On the first page I used a piece of Charlie's first harness, that had broken, to line the page. On the second page I decided to scrapbook my dog in his misery. Just kidding, he only had to wear the cone for a few days.

Staples

You can find staples for scrapbooking in all different sorts of colors to match your layout. Here is a small list of how you can use staples on your layouts.
  • Staple ribbon
  • Staple around a photo or embellishment
  • Staple velum
  • Staple a transparency
  • Staple a embellishment
Here is an example where I stapled around the photographs.

A walk in the park

If you want more examples to go Two Peas in a Bucket and search for staples in the gallery. You will find tons of inspiration.

Scrapbook Personality Quiz

Scrapbook Personality Quiz

I took a scrapbook personality quiz today. You can find it here Creating Keepsakes.
These are my results.

The scrapbooking bug has bit you, and but so far you're taking scrapbooking nice and easy. You've created some beautiful pages (although your first attempts may not have been exactly breathtaking), and your family members are learning to appreciate your scrapbooking efforts when they see themselves in your pages. Your paper collection isn't quite yet organized alphabetically by manufacturer, color and pattern, but you're getting there. A few more crops, and you could be hooked for life.

They are not to far off base actually. I am not one for going to crops and find it hard to find the energy to scrapbook during the weekdays that I am not off. I will go to a crop someday... but leaving my nice organized room is just to hard a this point.
